SOMBER SUMMER
July has been proven to be a very sad and somber month. Our state and our Dallas community has suffered, and the pain has radiated through our city and families everywhere, me included.
I feel like I do a good job of shifting perspective and finding joy in most things, but this has been tougher than usual during this time. I have chosen prayer, quiet, checking in and on my people, and showing up however I can be helpful. Serving others is the best medicine for a broken and somber heart. When things get hard, I get quiet and more internal. I have tried to slow things down, and I have wanted to be home, spend time with my family and read.
My oldest and I have gotten into a daily routine of word searches, which has been so fun. We decided to create a free word search printable for you to enjoy with family, too! I've really enjoyed this book, and this devotional has helped my anxious mama heart. I’ve been online and on IG way too much, but my friends' content has also been wonderful to share and read daily. Her words are a gift!
MORNING CUP OF JOE
I’ve been loving our coffee set up at home lately. Since I’m 45, my world needs to revolve around protein, ha! So, loving this duo to sweeten up my coffee and add some protein! So good. I love this routine of lighting my favorite candle and making coffee each morning. A moment of peace before busy days!
BACK TO SCHOOL (is coming)
It’s scary to think my kids start in under a month. Summer is coming to a close, and my brain has already moved on to new notebooks and new shoes. I, of course, am talking about new things for me! My kids have time, but I love that back to school feeling, too! This notepad bundle lives on my kitchen counter, and this Car Kit lives in my glovebox. Both will be a saving grace when August rolls around. I can brain dump all the things at home or on-the-go, and leave ‘don’t forget’ or ‘I love you’ notes for all my people.
ART IS THERAPY
I wish I created art as therapy, but since I can’t paint, I love to buy art (even in print form) to put in my office/house for inspiration.
This one, by one of my favorite people, is such a good reminder to create in times of sadness! And this one, paired with this frame, is being added to my gallery wall stat! I am a big fan of text-driven art if you can’t tell!
This frame was gifted to me for my birthday, and my family has enjoyed our family photos and memories being another form of art in our kitchen. Highly recommend it for yourself or as a gift. We’ve all enjoyed it so much!
Sending hugs and hoping you all have a wonderful end of summer. And if your heart has been hearting, please know you’re not alone.
Sending all the love, Steph
